Project
We would like to invite the children to take part in a termly project which they should undertake in addition to their reading and learning their spellings and maths facts.

Be a writer!
Write a poem about nature (animal, season, place etc.)
Write a diary entry based on being stranded on a desert island.
Write a fact sheet about a desert, include
pictures/drawings.
Be a detective!
Research about a famous desert.
Research Cairo and produce a leaflet on it.
Research a famous Pharaoh.
Get creative!
Draw a landscape of a desert.
Take photos of yourself using electricity (and being safe) around your home.
Create (build/draw etc.) a model of ‘the water cycle’.

Arithmetic homework books are due in each Tuesday and are returned to children on Friday. Project homework is due in by 29th March 2019. The children thoroughly enjoyed their trip to Colchester Castle this week. Thank you for your continued support and getting the children to school bright and early for the trip.

Retell a Viking Myth or Legend. You could do this verbally to the class, use Movie Maker, Powerpoint – be as creative as you like!

How many Viking Gods can you discover? How can you present your research clearly to the rest of the class?

Find out about a Viking battle or invasion and write a report about it.

The Vikings came from Norway, Sweden and Denmark. Choose one of these countries to investigate further.

Project
We would like to invite the children to take part in a termly project which they should undertake in addition to their reading and learning their spellings and maths facts.

Be a writer!
Write a description of a character from one of your favourite Fairy Tales (Little Red Riding Hood, Hansel and Gretel, Cinderella etc.) You could draw a picture too! Don’t forget to include adjectives (describing words).
Write your own fantasy story. Fantasy stories can include mythical creatures like dragons, unicorns and fairies.
Write about the job you would like to do when you grow up. Why do you want to do it? What do you think it will be like?
Be a detective!
Linked to our history topic, ‘Toys’, interview a member of your family to find out about the toys they used to play with when they were little. Write out their answers and include pictures if you can!
In March, we will be learning about jobs that people do. Find out about the job of a family member or someone in the local community. Create a poster of your findings. You could ask them questions about their role, draw pictures and include key facts.
Go on a material hunt around your house (or just out and about) and write a list of the objects you found and the materials they were made from.
Get creative!
In Computing this term, we will be TV chefs! Practise at home by making something in the kitchen with an adult. Take pictures of you cooking and of your creations.
Our Science topic is ‘Plants’. Make a picture or collage using leaves, twigs and flowers. You can photograph the plants or stick them down.
Create a picture of your favourite toys. You could use paint, colouring pencils, pens, collage, crayons or anything you wish.
