Reading is fundamental. In fact, it is one of the most important ingredients to becoming all that you can be. Reading develops your brain, provides a window into the world around you and gives you a greater chance to succeed.

Please support your child read by hearing them at least four times a week and completing their Reading Record. Thank you!


Maths Facts tested on: June 14 2018
Group 1

This week, we will be testing the children’s skills at estimating. We will give the children a 2-digit + 2-digit number sentence but only a few seconds for the children to estimate the answer. We are not expecting the children to solve the number sentence in a few seconds but to make a reasonable estimation of the answer. Please practise this at home.

Project
We would like to invite the children to take part in a half termly project which they should undertake in addition to their reading and learning their spellings and maths facts.

The children should choose a minimum of one task per section or more if they wish!

Children will be awarded a certificate upon the completion of their project.

Write a fact file about an inventor.
Write a diary entry from a child in a school 50 years ago.
Write a setting description of a school from the past.
Be a detective!
Find out how your parents’ school was different to our school.
Find out how your grandparents’ school was different to our school.
Find out 5 inventors and what they invented.
Get creative!
Create an invention that can be used in school.
Create an invention that could be used in the house.
Create a piece of equipment used in schools from the past.

Additional information on our learning this week

Children will be awarded a certificate upon the completion of their project. These projects can be handed in any time before Friday 13th July 2018.
