Weekly Overview

This page provides parents with an overview of what the children are learning about in Maths and Literacy as well as outlining their current homework.

If there are specific on-going issues with any aspects of your child’s homework, please contact their class teacher directly to discuss the matter further.

Reading is fundamental. In fact, it is one of the most important ingredients to becoming all that you can be. Reading develops your brain, provides a window into the world around you and gives you a greater chance to succeed. 

Please support your child read by hearing them at least four times a week and completing their Reading Record. Thank you!

Project
We would like to invite the children to take part in a termly project which they should undertake in addition to their reading and learning their spellings and maths facts.

The children should choose a minimum of one task per section or more if they wish! 

Children will be awarded a certificate upon the completion of their project.

Write a story set in another part of the world – linked to our English and Topic learning.Find 5 facts about a Christian Rite of Passage – linked to our RE learning. Create a model of an animal – linked to our Science learning.
Write a set of instructions for how to make a healthy meal- linked to ScienceFind out 5 inventors and what they invented.Create an invention that could be used in the house.
Write a postcard from your holidays (this can be made up!)Find 5 facts about the oceans of the world – linked to our Topic learning.Create a model of a balanced meal- linked to Science learning.

Additional information on our learning this week

We will be sending the children’s learning, books and PE bags home on Friday and Monday. Please feel free to send in a carrier bag for your child to carry their learning home in a separate bag.

Next Tuesday (23rd July) we will be going on our trip to Rainham Marshes. Please be reminded that the children need a packed lunch, provided in a disposable bag. Due to the nature of the trip, we ask that children wear trainers and long trousers/leggings. Please be mindful of the weather on the day and provide sun hats, cream, raincoats as appropriate. We will be leaving by 9am so please ensure you arrive at 8.45am through the normal door.
