Unlocking Potential at Benhurst Primary School
Benhurst Primary School works in partnership with Unlocking Potential (UP), a children’s mental health charity that supports pupils with social, emotional, and mental health needs (SEMH). Through their Schools Programme, UP provides a multidisciplinary service led by a Therapy Team Manager based in school. This includes therapeutic interventions and wellbeing activities, supported by a wider team of child psychotherapists, creative art therapists, occupational therapists, and speech and language therapists. Together, we aim to offer flexible, timely, and targeted support to improve emotional wellbeing across our school community.
UP team works closely with pupils, staff, parents, and caregivers to help children feel understood, reduce anxieties, support positive behaviour, improve classroom dynamics, and build healthy relationships. Children can also use the Speak UP service, which allows them to self-refer during playtime or lunchtime if they have a worry or need someone to talk to. Teachers and parents can request a check-in for any child who may benefit from emotional support or reassurance.
UP Therapy Team Manager is Kasia Stewart. If you would like to learn more or arrange a meeting, please speak to your child’s teacher or contact the school office.
